Planning underway to bring Davis statue to Fairview

The statue of Confederate president Jefferson Davis will eventually be on the grounds of his birthplace in Fairview, but exactly when, where and how have yet to be determined.

Gil Lawson is the spokesperson for the Kentucky State Parks System and says planning is underway to bring the statue to the Jefferson Davis Monument State Historic Site, but there’s currently no established timetable.

A location for the statue at the park hasn’t yet been determined, according to Lawson.

The Kentucky Historic Properties Advisory Commission voted to remove the statue from the Capitol rotunda Friday following a recommendation by Governor Andy Beshear.
