The Athletic reports “eight or more owners” are against playing a 2020 season as the negotiations with the Players Association have stalemated. It takes 75 percent of the 30 owners in a vote to approve play this year.

New York Yankees President Randy Levine has called on the players’ association to resume talks with MLB on the start of the season. He stated that money was not the primary obstacle, but rather health and safety protocols, and determining how to handle a potential second wave of Covid-19.
