Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced 203 new COVID-19 cases in the state Tuesday and seven new deaths.
According to a new release, that puts the state total of cases at 12,829 since the pandemic began and those seven deaths puts that total at 512. At least 3,431 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus. Groups of 50 or less will be able to gather again starting on June 29 and some public swimming will be allowed to take place, with heavy health restrictions in place, including strict social distancing.
The Governor says, as these things reopen and testing continues to increase, it’s expected that Kentucky will see more positive cases. He says, “Everybody needs to remember that COVID-19 is still out there, it spreads aggressively and it can be deadly. As part of Team Kentucky we all have to do our part and remember there are three things you can do to help stop the spread of COVID.” Those three things were continued social distancing, getting regularly tested for coronavirus and being open to communication with contact tracers.
The Tennessee Department of Health is reporting 670 new cases there, bringing the total to 31,612 with 493 deaths. Montgomery County is at 341 cases, Robertson County is at 657 and Stewart County remains at 16 cases.
