The next important date on MLB’s calendar is July 14th when the All Star Game is scheduled to be played at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. USA Today reports even though the game has not been officially cancelled, the blocked hotel rooms have been opened up. However, at this point, it appears there won’t be an All Star game nor a season for that matter. Commissioner Rob Manfred said last night at this point he is “not confident” there will be a 2020 season.

Longtime pitcher Mike McCormick, who won the Cy Young Award in 1967, has died at age 81.The San Francisco Giants say McCormick died Saturday at his home in North Carolina after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. McCormick played 16 years in the majors from 1956-71 with the Giants, Baltimore Orioles, Washington Senators, New York Yankees and Kansas City Royals.

Tennis

New York governor Andrew Cuomo said today that the U.S. Open tennis tournament will held in late August in New York City as part of the state’s reopening from shutdowns caused by the pandemic. The U.S. Open is scheduled to run from August 31st to September 13th.

NASCAR

NASCAR announced Monday its All Star Race normally held at Charlotte Motor Speedway is moving this year. The event will be held at Bristol Motor Speedway on July 15th and 30-thousand fans will be allowed to attend.
