NBA Roundup

The NBA will begin testing players and staff for COVID-19 beginning next Tuesday. Tests will be conducted every other day for all personnel involved with the league’s restart in Orlando. Teams are expected to arrive in Orlando beginning on July 7th.

Meanwhile, the smooth sailing of returning to an arena for the NBA may have hit a rough patch. Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving led a conference call with players Friday where he spoke up about not supporting a resumed season because of nationwide civil unrest from racism and social injustice. The Athletic reports several players spoke out about possibly sitting out because of the unrest or coronavirus. An agent told the Bleacher Report several of the league’s top players wouldn’t play under the proposed quarantine restrictions. The league restart, with 22 teams competing for 16 playoff spots, was approved last week.
