PGA Tour roundup: Thomas in top 10 at Charles Schwab Challenge

Harold Varner III has the lead following Friday’s second round of the PGA Tour’s Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, TX.. Varner had a 66 to move to 11-under for the tournament. Jordan Spieth shot 65 for a second straight day and is a stroke behind Varner at 10-under, while Rory McIlroy is just two shots back at eight under after carding a second-round 63. Louisville area native Justin Thomas had a two under 68 and is tied for seventh at eight under par while Lexington native Josh Teater missed the cut.

The field for the RBC Heritage next week at Hilton Head Island, SC includes 114 players who have won on the PGA Tour, the most of any event since the tour began compiling the stat in 2000. However, the RBC won’t have Tiger Woods, but for the second straight week, the top five in the world will be competing as golf resumes its schedule
