Motorists advised of paint striping crews on I-24 over next few days

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is advising motorists on Interstate 24 and Interstate 69 in Lyon, Trigg, and Livingston counties to be alert for a traffic paint striping caravan working in the area for about the next three or four days.

The traffic paint striping truck and support vehicles planned to start in Lyon County Saturday, then move to Trigg County and Livingston County.

Each paint truck will be escorted by three or four support vehicles. Caution is required anytime you encounter these slow-moving paint caravans on the road.

The crew will be putting down six-inch wide traffic stripes along I-24 and I-69. The wider stripes are designed to improve safety by providing better visibility at night and during rain.

Motorists are reminded that retro-reflective traffic paint used on pavement is a special fast-drying formula. However, it still takes several minutes to fully dry. You avoid driving across freshly painted traffic markings, if possible.
