MLS announces plans to resume 2020 season

Major League Soccer will resume its season on July 8 with a spectator-free tournament at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports complex at Walt Disney World in Orlando. The league’s 26 teams will be divided into six groups, with each club playing three group matches that will count toward the regular season. Sixteen teams will move on to the knockout round and the tournament winner will secure a berth in the 2021 CONCACAF Champions League. After the tournament ends on August 11, MLS plans to continue the regular season with a revised schedule in teams’ home markets.

It was also announced Nashville SC will play in the Eastern Conference for the remainder of the season.
