New CCPS Superintendent talks diversity, importance of SRO’s

Newly appointed Christian County Public School System Superintendent Chris Bentzel has released a statement celebrating the diversity in the school system and recognizing the importantance of School Resource Officers.

In the statement, Bentzel says, “In Christian County, we have a diverse community, and our schools reflect that diversity.  That diversity is a strength, not a weakness.  Our diversity gives our schools a chance to show the world what is possible when diverse people love and respect each other.”

He highlights the importance of School Resource Officers in student safety, saying the schools have worked with SROs to achieve higher levels of fairness and equality for years, and their dedication to the safety of all individuals in the schools reflects that.

Bentzel goes on to say the recent, unjustifiable deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor show that there is still work to be done to right racial injustice and disparity, and CCPS will strive to always improve in favor of its students
