The J.C. Penney store that’s anchored the north end of the Bradford Square Mall for decades is permanently closing its doors.
The company is closing 154 total stores after recently declaring bankruptcy and the Hopkinsville store is on the list released Thursday.
Owensboro is the only other western Kentucky store on the closure list and the Clarksville store will remain open for now.
Closeout sales will begin soon at some stores and could take 10 to 16 weeks to complete, according to a news release, which says additional phases of store closings are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
