Major League Baseball is making a last-ditch effort to save the 2020 season with a new proposal to players. According to reports, owners are hoping to shorten the season to 50- to 60-games, down from the 114-game schedule the players union suggested. The plan also calls for pro-rated player salaries with a 31 percent payout instead of the previously offered sliding scale reductions. MLB wants to start the season in July but still need to work out player safety measures and COVID-19 testing protocols.
