College Football

The College Football Hall of Fame was damaged by Atlanta rioters Friday night protesting the death of George Floyd. The building was boarded up with the most valuable memorabilia transferred to a more secure facility. The glass façade was shattered and rioters trashed the gift shop, pilfering merchandise before police arrived.

MLB

The Athletic reports The Players Association proposed a 114-game schedule with no additional salary cuts. There would be 100-million dollars of deferred money if the 2020 postseason is canceled. It would also include two years of expanded post-season and an-opt out for players if they don’t want to play because of coronavirus concerns.
Players at ‘high risk’ would receive full salary and service time, while others could opt out but won’t be paid. The owners had proposed an 82-game schedule with a sliding pay scale cut of salaries.

NFL

Oddsmakers are betting on Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow to be the NFL’s 2020 Offensive Rookie of the Year. Early lines released on Sunday have Burrow with the best odds to capture the trophy at the end of the season. Burrow’s former LSU teammate and current Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire is second on the list followed by Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa

NHL

Deputy commissioner Bill Daly said if NHL games resume players will be tested daily for the coronavirus. The league estimates 25-to-35 thousand tests would be needed to get through the Stanley Cup playoffs. One person testing positive would not automatically mean the league shuts down again, but the infected player, coach or staff member would quarantine to prevent an outbreak.

NASCAR

Brad Keselowski won the NASCAR Supermarket Heroes 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway on Sunday. Clint Bowyer placed second, Jimmy Johnson third and Kyle Busch fourth. There were 17 cautions in the event. Keselowski won for the second time in a week after last Sunday’s win at the Coca-Cola 600.
