Three independents file for city council as non-partisan deadline approaches

Three candidates have filed for Hopkinsville City Council as independents, one partisan candidate has withdrawn and the fields are filling out for the commissions and councils in a couple of Christian County’s smaller towns as the filing deadline approaches.

Ron Hicks is running as an independent in Ward 2 and will face incumbent Democrat Kimberly McCarley in the November general election.

Charles Crabtree III filed as an independent in Ward 4 and will square off with incumbent Democrat Paul Henson and independent Bradley Garabrandt in November.

Independent Jarred Mathis will run in Ward 3 and faces Democrat Alethea West in November.

Republican Nichole Eastman has withdrawn from the Ward 10 primary, leaving Robert Almy and Steve Keel to face off June 23 to determine who will be on the ballot against Democrat incumbent Jimmy Dossett in the general election.

There have been six filings for the six Crofton City Council seats and they are Anthony Durham, Brenda West, Wanda Croft, Jimmy Grace, Gregory Paul Owen and Reta Fleming.

Three candidates—David Rule, Jeanette Aldridge and Karen Pyle—have filed for seats on the four-person Pembroke City Commission.
