The Athletic reports the Players Association wants a schedule longer than 82 games and insist players receive their full prorated salaries. There was no bargaining session yesterday, but the union had two separate calls involving the eight-man executive sub-committee and a second call involving the club’s player reps. Washington Nationals pitching ace Max Scherzer, a sub-committee member, tweeted “there’s no reason to engage with MLB in any further compensation reductions.” The owners’ proposal Tuesday was a sliding scale of slashing pay for 2020 games with no fans. The highest paid players would take the biggest cuts.
