Secretary of State, AG announce task force to oversee June primary

Secretary of State Michael Adams is assuring Kentuckians that the June primary election will be safe and secure and he stands by legislation requiring voters to present a photo ID at precincts.

He joined Attorney General Daniel Cameron Thursday in announcing a Ballot Integrity Task Force that they will co-chair. He says the task force will bring together stakeholders to monitor the primary election and to investigate and deter potential fraud.

Kentuckians are encouraged by Secretary Adams and the governor to go online to govoteky.com or to call their county clerk’s office to request a mail-in absentee ballot for the primary in an effort to promote social distancing and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

He says Kentucky’s mail-in absentee voting is much different than mail-in voting in California that the president has been critical of on Twitter.

Secretary Adams notes you will still have options to vote absentee at your county clerk’s office two weeks prior to the election and at least one central location in each county for in-person voting on June 23.

The ACLU and other organizations are challenging legislation approved by this year’s General Assembly that will require voters to present a photo ID beginning in the November general election. Secretary Adams stands by the measure and believes it is a proactive way to prevent malfeasance.

You will be able to hear our entire interview with Secretary Adams Sunday morning at about 9:10 a.m. on Lite Rock 98.7 and online at lite987whop.com.
