NFL

Yahoo Sports reports NFL head coaches could return to team facilities as early as next week. Players could also potentially be in full-squad minicamps in mid-to-late June. All NFL teams must get approval from state governments before any mini-camp begins.
The key hurdle appears to be California Governor Gavin Newsom opening the way for full-team operations in June for the San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams. The NFL Players’ Association would also have to agree to any reopening plan.

Horse Racing

Two horses trained by Hall of Famer Bob Baffert have tested positive for a banned substance at Arkansas’ Oaklawn Park. Multiple reports say Unbeaten Charlatan, the 5-to-1 Kentucky Derby favorite, and stablemate Gamine, who also won on the May 2nd card, tested positive for lidocaine. Use of the drug carries a 15 to 60-day suspension.
The Kentucky Derby is scheduled for September 5th, while the Belmont Stakes will open the Triple Crown this year on June 20th. Baffert is seeking a record-matching sixth Kentucky Derby victory.

Auto Racing

NASCAR’s best are taking another go at Charlotte Motor Speedway tonight. William Byron will be on the pole up front alongside teammate Alex Bowman. Brad Keselowski won the Coca-Cola 600 Sunday at Charlotte. He will start in the 20th position.
