Museums of Historic Hopkinsville offering virtual summer camp

The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County will be offering a virtual camp this summer and registration is open now.

According to a news release, the camp is designed for kids between ages 7 and 12, though modifications for younger children and even for adults are available upon request. It will be completely virtual, due to the ongoing pandemic restrictions, and it will begin on Tuesday, June 9 and will run for eight consecutive weeks to conclude with a final party and ceremony on Saturday, August 1.

Each week focuses on an era or interesting stories from the community’s history and at the end of each week, the heroes-in-training will earn a special badge. All heroes-in-training, and their guardians, will be part of a private Facebook group. The Facebook group will be a place for the Museum staff to share videos, photographs, and information about the week’s activities. Each week will have a packet of activities and supplies that correspond with the week’s theme and packets for each week will be available for pick up at the Pennyroyal Area Museum.

The registration fee for the camp is $75, but interested participants can also take part in only one week for $15.

For more information, or to register, call the Museum at 270-887-4270.
