CCHD gives COVID-19 update, Jennie Stuart to allow limited visitation

The Christian County Health Department reported 111 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Christian County during their Tuesday press conference, and that recoveries are up to 95.

Amanda Sweeney with the health department says they’ve had no new cases since Sunday’s update, which leaves the total at 111.  Of those cases, only 14 are considered ‘active’ and 95 individuals have actually recovered from the illness.  Between health department testing and Jennie Stuart Health, 3,189 people have been tested for the virus locally.

Sweeney says contact tracing is very important to helping suppress the spread of COVID-19.

In further good news, Beth McCraw with Jennie Stuart says they still have zero patients hospitalized and 12 people have been successfully discharged since the pandemic began. Jennie Stuart will now allow limited visitation on their campus, with visiting hours between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and with multiple guidelines in place.

All visitors must provide their name, phone number, and patient they are visiting. Upon arrival, visitors will be screened for fever, COVID-19 symptoms, and will be asked if they have been in contact with a lab-confirmed COVID-19 patient within the last 14 days. Visitors will be provided with a surgical mask and asked to wear it at all times within the facility.

President and CEO Eric Lee says they have already begun the process of recalling furloughed workers, but it will be a lengthy process to bring them all back.

The health department’s testing site at Tie Breaker Park remains open weekdays from 9 until 11 a.m. and on Saturdays from 8:30 until 11 a.m.
