Longtime local business man, Albert Sisk Sr., passes away

A longtime, well-known local business man who was once described as “Hopkinsville’s Outstanding Young Man” has passed away.

Albert Sisk Sr. passed away Thursday at his home at the age of 80, surrounded by his family. Private services will be held with burial to follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, two children, two grandchildren and one brother.

Sisk graduated from Hopkinsville High School in 1958 and received his Bachelors of Science in Marketing in 1962 from the University of Kentucky. After graduation, he served two years in the United States Army and completed his active duty service as a Captain in 1965, when he returned to Hopkinsville and quickly got his long, successful career underway.  He began work at Sisk Motor Company, which was founded by his father in 1945. Over the next 40 years, he would lead Sisk Motor Company through several franchise acquisitions and grow the business until it eventually moved from downtown Hopkinsville to its current campus on the corner of Fort Campbell Boulevard and Eagle Way.

In 1970, he was voted “Hopkinsville’s Outstanding Young Man” and in 2003 he was nominated for the Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award.  He served in numerous civic organizations, including the Jaycees, Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, Co-Chair of the Heart of Hopkinsville, and the Foster Care Review Board.

Hughart, Beard and Giles Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
