Todd County Public Health Director Jen Harris gave a COVID-19 update Saturday on both Todd County and local communities.
Todd County remains at 18 cases, with only three of those cases considered ‘active’ and the rest recovered. Logan County is reporting 114 cases and Muhlenberg County is reporting 481 cases, though 350 of them are in the Green River Correctional Complex—and they have had seven deaths.
Harris says cases across the state seem to be in a decline and that is great news, especially with testing happening more than ever before.
She says things continue to open up across the state, from restaurants to hair and nail salons and state resort parks, thought she says that Lake Barkley lodge will continue to remain closed as a place where healthcare workers and others can quarantine if needed.
Harris says the state is hiring people to work as contact tracers with local health departments, but she’s not sure Todd County is at the point of needing one.
Many churches are opening back up for in-person services, and Harris just urges caution—make sure you’re washing your hands, keeping up that social distancing and wearing a mask if possible. She also encourages people to go online to healthyatwork.ky.gov to keep up with the frequently updating guidelines on how businesses and other activities, events and agencies will operate for the time being.
