Hopkins County saw an increase of two cases of COVID-19 and one new death from Wednesday to Friday, putting that total at 28 since the pandemic began.
Judge-Executive Jack Whitfield and Madisonville Mayor Kevin Cotton say the overall total of confirmed cases of COVID-19 is now at 219 and deaths are at 28. They say that the number of recovered individuals rose eight, putting that total 160 and with only 31 cases considered ‘active. Mayor Cotton says 18 of those are in long term care facilities, which have been hit hard across the state, and he thanked those staff members who continue to go and take care of their patients.
Some of those who have recovered were recognized during Friday’s update, with Judge Executive Whitfield saying it’s good to see them doing well.
They both urged people to keep up those good social distancing measures that they have already implemented so successfully, in an effort to make sure there’s no spike in cases—also make sure you are still thoroughly and often washing your hands.
