11 local students receive Elizabeth Stone Educational scholarships

First Christian Church has awarded $55,000 in scholarships to 11 local deserving students as part of the Elizabeth Stone Educational Fund.

According to a news release from Trustee Chairman Mike Chadwell, all but one of the recipients this year are graduating seniors from the class of 2020.  Each of the 11 students will receive $5,000 and this year’s winners are Alexandria Boyd, Jamie Boyd, Jackson Cotthoff,
Hannah Croom, Destinty Davie, Tyquez Douglas, Clarissa Miller, Garrett Pyle, John Schmitt, Chase Shannon and John Taggart.

In addition to this scholarship, Tyquez Douglas also received the Joey Ledford Scholarship of $1,000. The Elizabeth Stone Educational Fund was established from estate of Dr.
James Edward Stone, in honor of his wife Elizabeth, following his death in 1952.  It is administered to students each year by the Trustees of First Christian Church in Hopkinsville.
