Although the scope of campaigning has certainly changed in recent months, that hasn’t stopped hopeful candidates in the race for the U.S. Senate seat held by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Mike Broihier is facing off against Amy McGrath and Representative Charles Booker in the June democratic primary, where the winner will go on to face Senator McConnell is the November general election.  Speaking WHOP News, Broihier says he’s continued meeting with Kentuckians, only now it’s been virtually instead of face-to-face.  He says despite the challenges, he’s feeling confident as the June 23 primary draws closer.

He says he supports mail-in voting, as he believes it will increase voter turnout while keeping people safely socially distanced.

Although COVID-19 is the main topic in the news, Broihier says that, if elected, he intends to focus on healthcare, the environment and jobs, no matter what the pandemic is doing.

He says he has advocated for a universal income in the United States and continues to do so, with recent events proving even more so how vital that would be to the families most in need. Broihier is a retired Marine Lt. Colonel and calls himself a proud Lincoln County farmer.
