ESPN reports the NCAA infraction committee is referring the Kansas basketball alleged violations to the newly formed Independent Accountability Resolution Process for potential adjudication. The five-member IRP panel would hear the case and determine what penalties the Jayhawks would face. The decision is final with no appeal. The NCAA enforcement staff contends KU committed severe major rule violations. KU disputes all five alleged Level One violations.
The NCAA’s Division One Council is set to vote on ending its moratorium concerning on-campus activities sometime today. The move is expected during a meeting of the council, which comprises 40 appointed members that guide and direct the decision making of college sports governing body. Sources say the council is not expected to extend the ban and will instead lift at least parts of the moratorium if not all of it.
