Arts Council offering visual arts summer camp

The Pennyroyal Arts Council is launching the inaugural visual arts camp this summer and registration is open now.

The camp is made possible through the Students Meeting the Arts program and will take place on the stage of the Alhambra Theatre June 15 through June 19. The one-week, summer day camp is for children seven to 12 years of age, and will offer a morning and afternoon session. The session this summer will have a focus on recycling and campers will get a chance to work with different mediums, arts and styles.

Arts Education Coordinator Molly Campbell says, “The Arts Council is excited to be able to offer this hand-on arts experience and looks forward to the creativity that will be produced during this week.”

The camp will be instructed by Christian County High School Art Teacher Paula Gieske.  Sessions will be limited to 15 people a piece, to both provide quality instruction and allow for greater social distancing. Registration for the one-week camp is $150 and fees include the instructor’s rate and basic art supplies for the week’s activities. A limited number of scholarships are available.
