The Christian County Health Department reported 100 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Christian County during Tuesday’s press conference and urged the community to take advantage of free testing sites.
Amanda Sweeny with the health department says Christian County has 100 total cases of COVID-19, up one from Monday. Only 11 of those cases are active, 86 patients have recovered and there have been three fatalities in the pandemic. She says 2,789 people have been tested by the Christian County Health Department or Jennie Stuart Medical Center and they say anyone who wants to get tested can, regardless of symptoms, and they would like to see more locals participate.
In a bit of good news, Beth McCraw of Jennie Stuart Health says they have 0 patients hospitalized for coronavirus.
Sweeny says much is still unknown about this virus and urges people to keep up social distancing measures when possible to keep up frequent hand washing.
Four children in Kentucky have recently been affected by an inflammatory syndrome believed to be related to COVID-19, but Public Health Director Kayla Bebout says no children in Christian County have been reported having it. The free testing site at Tie Breaker Park remains open weekdays from 9 until 11 a.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 until 11. The Oak Grove testing site will be open May 26 at 1705 Thompsonville Lane from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.
