The Oak Grove Community Center is inviting military students and students who live in Oak Grove to take part in a Summer Fun event and take home summer fun packs.
Appearing on the WHOP Early Bird Show recently, Melissa Lynch the events are for students from kindergarten through the 8th grade and will take place on Thursday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at 1705 Thompsonville Lane. She says each child will get a pack full of various things, including art supplies and other fun items, and she says it will be a drive-thru style event.
There will also be an art contest where participants will draw something in their front yard or on their sidewalk, and judges will come to the residents to judge the art. Lynch says they want everyone who can to participate, and have a chance to win prizes.
She says if you win a prize in the art contest, you will know because there will be hula-hoops left in the yard.
Parents are asked to stop by the Oak Grove Community Center and sign-up participating children. The event is sponsored by the community center, the Christian County Public Schools Family Resource Youth Service Centers, Oak Grove Mayor Teresa Jarvis, Councilwoman Janet Edwards, the Oak Grove Walmart and Cash Express.
