Brad Keselowski celebrated his first pole win of the season – and perhaps the most memorable of his career – from afar.After waiting nearly a full hour Thursday evening, the Team Penske driver watched NASCAR’s chief scorer Kyle McKinney finally pluck the No. 1 ball out of a random draw – giving the 2012 series champion the top starting position when the Cup season resumes Sunday at Darlington Raceway.

NASCAR announced plans yesterday for five Cup Series races in June to take place in Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia, Florida and Alabama – all of them without fans. NASCAR has now set plans for 20 races – including nine in the top Cup Series – as it returns to the tracks Sunday after being relegated to only i-Racing for more than two months due to public health concerns about Covid-19.

Ryan Newman said yesterday he has no memories of his dramatic accident on the final lap of the Daytona 500, nor does he remember anything from his two days in the hospital afterward. After watching a replay of the wreck did he realize the severity of his accident, which caused a severe head injury. Newman is scheduled to return to the track this weekend at Darlington.
