Churchill Downs begins spring meet Saturday

Churchill Downs will open its spring meet tomorrow and it’s believed for the first time in the track’s 145 year history, without fans. The track was to begin its spring meet April 25th, but it was postponed due to the pandemic. Horses returned to the track Monday to begin workouts. The Kentucky Derby and Oaks-normally a part of the spring meet-have been rescheduled for September 4th for the Oaks and the Derby will be on September 5th.
