Hopkinsville man charged with third DUI

The Hopkinsville Police Department arrested a Hopkinsville man Thursday and charged him with his third DUI.

According to the police report, officers observed a vehicle sitting still in the opposite lane of travel on South Elm Street near Duiguid around 8:30 p.m., preventing others from traveling on South Elm. As police pulled in behind the vehicle, it reportedly moved and pulled onto West First Street and when a traffic stop was initiated, it apparently came to stop a fast stop on North Jessup, allegedly nearly striking a parked car.

Contact was made with the driver, 30-year old Antonio Haskins of Hopkinsville, who had allegedly left the driver’s seat and gotten into the back of the vehicle. An opened alcohol container was allegedly visible in the vehicle.  He reportedly admitted to having a drink earlier in the day and blew a .140 in a breathalyzer test.

Haskins was arrested and charged with third-offense DUI, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, careless driving, obstructing a highway, failure to maintain insurance and failure to possess a license.
