There has been another COVID-19 death in Hopkins County, but the number of recoveries is far-outpacing the rate of new cases.
The most recent death marks 27 in Hopkins County since the pandemic began. There was only one new case of the virus since Monday, bringing that overall total to 216. Twelve more people have recovered since Monday, making a total of 140 recoveries.
Hopkins County Judge-Executive Jack Whitfield and Madisonville Mayor Kevin Cotton say continued social distancing and good hygiene practices by the public will help the community see more people recovering than getting sick going forward.
