Chamber seeking public input about non-partisan local elections

The Christian County Chamber of Commerce is asking for the public’s input as Hopkinsville City Council considers the possibility of non-partisan elections.

According to a news release, the proposed measure would change the current system of ward primary system by removing partisan labels. The current system of geographic ward representation and ward only primaries would remain in place. Of 419 cities in Kentucky, less than 10 use the partisan local election format, with Hopkinsville being one of those.
