CCHD reports 96 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 75 recoveries

The Christian County Health Department is reporting 96 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Christian County, and they’re encouraging people to stay vigilant as things begin to reopen.

Christian County has 96 total cases of COVID-19, up one from Saturday. Eighteen of those cases are active, 75 patients have recovered and there have been three fatalities in the pandemic.

Amanda Sweeney says 2,278 people have been tested by the Christian County Health Department or Jennie Stuart Medical Center. She says 18 people were tested at a new site on Clay Street Monday afternoon and it will reopen again Monday, May 18 from 1 until 3 p.m.  Public Health Director Kayla Bebout says while they’re limited to 70 tests per day, they have yet to be denied if they ask for additional tests.

The free testing site at Tie Breaker Park remains open weekdays from 9 until 11 a.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 until 11.

Emergency Management Director Randy Graham and Christian County Judge Executive Steve Tribble say the county government is working diligently to come up with a plan to reopen many of their services on May 18 while staying within health guidelines.

Beth McCraw of Jennie Stuart Health reported only one patient who has tested positive for COVID-19 currently hospitalized and says the ambulatory surgery center will reopen for outpatient services this Wednesday.
