Two Evansville residents charged following pursuit

Two Evansville residents are facing multiple charges following a pursuit in Dawson Springs Saturday.

According to a news release from Kentucky State Police, troopers were patrolling in the area of the 89 mile marker of the Pennyrile Parkway when they reportedly observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.  A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with the driver, 29-year old Letarion Gines of Evansville, and his passenger 30-year old Binnie Bryant of Evansville.

During the traffic stop, Gines allegedly put the vehicle into drive and began to flee, resulting in a pursuit that last several miles. The pursuit ended with Gines’ vehicle in a ditch with Gines fleeing on foot—he was reportedly apprehended quickly. Further investigation revealed both Gines and Bryant were under the influence, and in possession of marijuana and handguns.

Gines was arrested and charged with DUI, two counts of fleeing or evading police, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana and multiple traffic violations.  Bryant was charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana and public intoxication.
