FOP, local law enforcement remember the fallen

Although the state of the world is very different this year, that didn’t stop the Fraternal Order of Police and local law enforcement agencies from remembering and honoring the fallen.

In a virtual service posted to social media, Christian County Sheriff Tyler DeArmond and Hopkinsville Police Chief Clayton Sumner listed the names of the 10 law enforcement officers that made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.  Sheriff DeArmond also remembered the families of those officers, and says their sacrifices will be remembered forever.

Chief Sumner says although we cannot come together physically, the community can still take a moment to remember those heroes and their families.

May 10 through May 16 is National Police Week and the officers killed in the line of duty in Christian County—the first being Officer R. H. West in 1893 and the most recent being Officer Phillip Meacham in 2018—continued to be remembered by the community they served.
