Man arrested after shooting incident

A man was arrested following a shooting incident Saturday afternoon at an apartment on South Virginia Street.

An arrest citation for 41-year old Foster James of Hopkinsville says he was in an argument with a neighbor while in the neighbor’s apartment in the 2900 block of South Virginia when he allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired a round.

The bullet went in and out of the victim’s right front pants pocket, but did not enter his body and the man was not injured. Two other people were also inside the same room during the gunfire and were not hurt.

Police say James attempted to hide his gun between a step and the foundation of the apartment.

James was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment, tampering with evidence and use of restricted ammunition during commission of a felony.

Alcohol is listed as a factor in the incident on the report.
