Todd Co. health director talks Elkton testing event

Todd County Public Health Director Jen Harris gave additional information on the COVID-19 testing event coming up Monday during her weekly update Saturday afternoon.

It will be from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. in front of Todd County Middle School and while anyone who wants to be tested can get a test, Harris says it’s especially encouraged for essential workers and those exhibiting symptoms.

The testing is a partnership with the Bell and Blount clinics in Elkton and Harris says they’ll bill your insurance if you have it, but the health department will administer a free test if you don’t have insurance.

She says participants will never leave their vehicles and the tests will entail a swab being inserted into the patient’s nostril.

Harris says test results should be known within one to two days and they are asking anyone who is tested to self-quarantine at home until the results come back. If you are positive, you’ll have to self-isolate for two weeks.

Todd County has 15 total cases, 10 patients have recovered and five cases are active. The most recent patient who was in the hospital has since been released.
