Todd Fiscal Court heard updates on COVID-19 related matters during its first meeting of May Friday morning and learned that longtime Treasurer Tammy Robertson is retiring.

Robertson received approval from Fiscal Court to take family medical leave through August to care for her ailing mother and says she intends to retire when the leave is complete.

She has served as Todd County treasurer for 19 years after 11 years of service as payroll clerk and Ag Center director in Muhlenberg County and Magistrate Brent Spurlin thanked her for her service.

Judge-Executive Todd Mansfield appointed Linda Penick to serve as interim treasurer.

Emergency Management Director Daniel Smith was in Owensboro picking up a donation of supplies from the Ford Motor Company and says he believes Todd County has a 60 day supply of personal protective equipment at this point.

Governor Andy Beshear and Secretary of State Michael Adams have ordered counties to reduce the number of precincts open for in-person voting on primary election day to keep vulnerable poll workers out of harm’s way and to avoid bringing crowds together. Secretary Adams is encouraging Kentuckians to vote absentee through the mail and there will soon be an online portal to request a ballot for the June 23 election.

County Clerk Cindy O’Bryan says the state has requested Todd County to only have one location for limited voting on election day, but she’s hoping to receive approval for South Todd and North Todd Elementary Schools to be open as polling places.

The lone voting location could be at the high school, if the state doesn’t give approval for two sites. O’Bryan says there will also be absentee voting in the courthouse in the weeks prior to the primary and she’ll have Saturday hours to accommodate those who work during the week.

Judge Mansfield hopes to have the Todd County Courthouse open for the next fiscal court meeting May 22 and received approval to spend $2,500 to construct a glass partition in the county clerk’s office. Glass Doors Solutions has donated the necessary glass to the county.
