Two more Hopkins County residents die from COVID-19

Two more Hopkins County residents have died from COVID-19.

Judge-Executive Jack Whitfield says that brings the Hopkins County total to 24 deaths since the pandemic began. There were four new cases over the weekend, making that total 211 and only 80 of those cases are active with 107 patients recovered.

Judge Whitfield expects the total number of cases to continue rising with increased testing, but believes the rate of increase is slowing.

The closest regional office for local residents to receive their REAL ID that will eventually be needed to fly on a commercial airplane or to get on Fort Campbell is in Madisonville, but Hopkins Circuit Court Clerk Tanya Bowman is reminding there’s no need to rush, as the deadline has been extended to October of next year due to the pandemic.

Judge Whitfield and Madisonville Mayor Kevin Cotton announced that beginning this week, they are reducing the number of information briefings to Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 10:30.
