CCSO warns about multiple coronavirus scams

The Christian County Sheriff’s Department is continuing to warn about potential scams during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Public Information Officer Chris Miller appeared on WHOP Monday morning to discuss the scammers that are pretending to be the federal government in order to gain access to a victim’s stimulus check.  Deputy Miller says the government will not contact you via phone and ask for personal information—he also says to never give that information out freely.

He says to also stay wary of online offers—whether they be about COVID-19 testing, vaccines or otherwise—and to not be taken advantage of.

Deputy Miller says along with coronavirus scams, the scams that people are used to seeing are still continuing as always, including scammers impersonating police officers, fake offers of medical care and more. Miller says don’t be tricked by fear and urgency—and if you experience something you think is a scam, contact the department and let them know about it.
