Two people were arrested after a child was found in an abandoned vehicle on East Ninth Street Saturday morning.
Hopkinsville police officers were called to investigate an abandoned SUV at Car Stop at 1410 East Ninth about 10:45 a.m. and found the small child in the back seat alone, according to Sgt. Martin Lopez.
The child was evaluated and determined to be okay by medical professionals and Sgt. Lopez says Department of Community Based Services social workers were contacted.
Hours later, police located the child’s parents—23-year old Nancy Heflin and 29-year old Johnathan Deloach—who were both arrested for public intoxication and first-degree criminal child abuse.
