Todd County Fiscal Court hears update on road funds

Todd Fiscal Court heard about cuts to county road aid funds at a special-called virtual meeting Thursday morning and agreed to a new memorandum of understanding with the City of Clarksville regarding potential expansion of natural gas service in the future.

A new resolution was approved by magistrates regarding those road funds, with Judge-Executive Todd Mansfield noting the cut amounts to just over 12 percent.

The City of Clarksville already has representation on the Todd County Natural Gas District Board and County Attorney Jeff Traughber says they will have to expend funds on a feasibility study.

A new proposed gas line would tap into existing infrastructure north of Elkton and head south, allowing a local gas district utility to distribute to those needing service. Clarksville could use the line as a secondary source for gas.

Judge Mansfield says there’s been discussion about potentially reopening the Todd County Courthouse sometime in mid-to-late May and that will likely necessitate the purchase of Plexiglas barriers for frontline staff.

In other action, fiscal court extended the contract with Com-Care for EMS services in Todd County.
