Bengals release QB Dalton and Favre says Rodgers won’t finish career in Green Bay

The Cincinnati Bengals released quarterback Andy Dalton today, one week after selecting LSU QB Joe Burrow with the top overall pick in last week’s NFL Draft. Dalton ranks first in franchise history with 204 passing touchdowns and second with 31,594 passing yards. Dalton earned three Pro Bowl selections and helped lead the Bengals to five post season appearances, but never won a playoff game.

Brett Favre believes Aaron Rodgers will finish his career elsewhere after the Green Bay Packers selected Jordan Love in the first round of this year’s draft. Favre, who ironically orchestrated his own departure from the Packers in 2008 when Rodgers was ready to take over as the team’s quarterback. Favre added that like many fans and insiders, he was surprised Green Bay took a quarterback with its first pick after reaching the NFC championship game last season. Rodgers turned 37 in December but continued to play at a high level last season and is under contract through 2023.
