Free agent outfielder Yasiel Puig is close to reaching an agreement with the San Francisco Giants, according to a reporter with sources within the Cuban baseball community. The report states that the deal would include a one-year option and adds that the Giants and Puig are waiting on clarification from Major League Baseball on a possible start of the season before making an announcement. Puig spent most of his seven-year career playing for San Francisco’s biggest rival-the Los Angeles Dodgers- and had 24 homers and 84 RBIs in 149 games with the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians last season.
