Community and Development Services of Hopkinsville is celebrating completing the final home as part of the Hopkinsville Home Improvement Program.
According to a news release, the staff were excited to be able to finish the work on five homes during this complicated time in the lives of many impacted by COVID-19. Karen Dillard is the homeowner of the final residence, and says the program was a blessing that changed her life.
Through a partnership between the Christian County-Hopkinsville Development Corporation and the City of Hopkinsville, Community and Development Services staff are able to assist qualified applicants with substantial rehabilitation of their residence. Under the program, the houses are demolished and subsequently replaced in the same footprint as the former home. The project utilizes Kentucky Housing Corporation GAP Financing Pool funds and Community Development Block Grant dollars.
