There are now 12 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Todd County.
Public Health Director Jen Harris says the 12th case is a healthy minor who was tested on Friday and whose result came back positive Saturday. The patient is not connected to any other cases in Todd County and it’s unknown how the minor contracted the virus.
The patient is currently isolated at home with no symptoms and their contacts have been advised to self-quarantine for 14 days. Harris says the entire household had been tested because another family member was a contact with a previous Todd County case, but the minor was the only one to test positive.
Harris notes it’s the second minor in Todd County to test positive and neither have shown symptoms. While it’s common for minors to be asymptomatic, they can still carry the virus and expose others who are more vulnerable.
