Former WKU basketball star Marcus dies at age 40

Former Western Kentucky All-American Chris Marcus died Thursday night in his hometown of Charlotte, NC at age 40. One of the most dominant Hilltopper big men ever, Marcus was chosen last year as one of the 15 finest players in program history as a representative of the WKU All-Century Team. He received Associated Press All-American Honorable Mention honors in 2001 and 2002 and was the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year in 2001 and led the nation in rebounding with an average of 12.1 board per game. He was part three of three NCAA tournament teams in his WKU career.
