A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has begun repainting stripes on roadways across the region.
A news release says these mobile paint caravans will be on the road during daylight hours anytime weather allows.
While the reflective paint is a special fast-drying formula, motorists are reminded to avoid driving through fresh paint. Paint caravans will be running under normal highway speeds.
The paint trucks and support vehicles will be making several passes on each highway segment to place reflective paint along edges and down the center line. To complete their work in a timely manner the paint caravans will have to run for extended distances before pulling over to let traffic pass.
Motorists are asked to use appropriate caution and exercise patience.
Motorists should be aware that these mobile caravans will be working along all types of highways. Generally, pavement markings get repainted about every two to three years depending on traffic count and other factors.
