Hopkins County deputy killed in single-vehicle accident

A Hopkins County sheriff’s deputy was killed in a single-vehicle accident Wednesday morning on the Western Kentucky Parkway.

Kentucky State Police investigated the crash and determined 43-year old Deputy Terry Vick  of Greenville was eastbound in his private vehicle on the Western Kentucky Parkway near the 43-mile marker when his vehicle crossed the median for unknown reasons and struck a guard rail and concrete abutment before coming to rest.

Deputy Vick was pronounced dead at the scene by the Hopkins County Coroner’s Office.

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department issued a statement saying Deputy Vick was a school resource officer at Hanson Elementary, but that he had just completed an overnight security detail at the Madisonville COVID-19 testing site. Deputy Vick was a husband, father, a Marine veteran and 17-year law enforcement veteran.
