Former Murray State, Western Kentucky, Southern Miss, University of Cincinnati and University of Tennessee assistant coach Chris Shumate is headed back to another Division One school. Georgia Southern announced the hiring of Shumate on Monday. He most recently worked at Northern Kentucky University. Shumate is the son in law of former Caldwell County and Crittenden County football coach Pat Gates.
